MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

Here is the Membership Committee's letter of WELCOME to those
of you who join the International Coach Federation.

Welcome New Member of the ICF!!

Congratulations on your recent membership to ICF!! The International Coach Federation is the tie that binds together the global community of personal and organizational coaches; it is the voice of your profession. As a member, you have joined a world wide COMMUNITY OF COACHES dedicated to building, supporting, and preserving the integrity of the coaching profession.

Your membership in the ICF also includes the opportunity for you to be part of the local Connecticut Chapter of ICF.  We welcome you to our Chapter and hope you will join us.

What is the Connecticut Chapter of the International Coaching Federation (ICF-CT)?

The Connecticut chapter first gathered in 1997 and became chartered in 2001.  The ICF-CT has six goals, as delineated in its Bylaws.  They are:
1) to increase the success of its membership;
2) to increase the skills and effectiveness of its members;
3) to raise the awareness of the wider community about the coaching profession;
4) to provide a network through which its members can learn of and share opportunities;
5) to provide a forum wherein the members can discuss issues of professional concern; and
6) to provide the opportunity for its members to collaborate in providing resources and solutions for their clients.

 Until 2002, the Chapter’s focus was on education and networking. Since then, while continuing that focus, we have also been building membership, increasing our member benefits, expanding our marketing efforts, and most of all, creating momentum. This is a great time to benefit from the chapter’s current offerings and to be part of building its legacy!
The most popular way to become involved in the Chapter is to pay the annual Membership Activity Fee (MAF) of $75.00, which provides all of the following membership benefits.

The local CT Chapter offers you many membership benefits and opportunities. THESE INCLUDE:

  • Monthly meetings, with face-to-face networking with other coaching professionals, (the ability to connect with other professionals and to develop a supportive peer group can be a great support for your “psyche” and your business.)
  • These local meetings also provide education programs, including programs about specific coaching skills, training opportunities, and how to build and market your coaching business.
  • Conference call/bridgeline option into these regular CT Chapter meetings.
  • Networking to share referrals and enhance our practices
  • A Mentor Program, where seasoned coaches mentor people new to the coaching business
  • A Chapter Marketing Plan, to raise awareness of Coaching and Connecticut Coaches throughout the tri-state area :
    • Part of your Membership Activity Fee includes a full listing in our Chapter web-site directory--for networking, P.R. contacts and visibility Full details about how to be listed here.
    • Bulletin Board on the website for collegial sharing of information
    • Public Relations throughout the state-of the Chapter and of the members
  • ICF-CT Listserve to further connect our membership to one another
  • Lots of other things in the works!

    That's the list of membership benefits from your LOCAL CHAPTER.

Please access the Calendar page on our website for the most recent schedule of events for our Chapter.  You may join as a MAF member or just attend the regular meetings and pay for the meeting with no obligation. ***Please note that the MAF is designed to give you far greater cost-efficiency. See the website for the comparison between the MAF and ‘pay-as-you-go’ options.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we would like to invite you to take an active role in the ICF-CT Chapter, and in the coaching profession as a whole.  We’ve found that those who involve themselves closely with the Chapter reap excellent benefits in gaining knowledge about coaching, making lasting professional connections, and growing their coaching businesses quickly and efficiently. One key way to do this is by serving on one of the Chapter Committees: Marketing, Membership, Meeting Management, Program Planning, and the Coaching Mentor Program.   As a new Chapter member, your contribution, insights, and enthusiasm for coaching will help keep the Chapter focused on the issues and topics most beneficial for the growth of the Chapter, and the field.

As a relatively new member myself, I can tell you that serving as Membership Chair this past year has been a truly exciting opportunity that has allowed me to grow my business and my coaching skills, to build a supportive network, and to give something back to this very important and expanding profession.

If you would like more information about the various Chapter committees and current open board positions, please check out our website at this link: http://www.icf-ct.com/chapter.htm , or feel free to contact me directly.

If you have any additional questions or for more information, please don’t hesitate to contact any of the membership committee members listed below.  We will be happy to answer your questions and help make your first visit with the CT Chapter a welcoming one.

Most people report their first meeting as very enjoyable. Comments include:
